THE ROLE OF BUDGETING IN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
This study aims to: (1) investigate the role of budgeting in non-profit organizations, (2) identify the key benefits of effective budgeting for non-profits, and (3) assess the challenges associated with non-profit budgeting. A survey design was employed to gather data from financial managers and program directors in non-profit organizations. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 376 participants from non-profit organizations in Abuja was determined, ensuring comprehensive insights. The non-profit sector was chosen for its unique financial structures and need for effective budgeting. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.87. Findings indicate that effective budgeting is crucial for non-profit organizations, aiding in resource allocation, financial accountability, and program sustainability. Recommendations include adopting comprehensive budgeting practices, providing training on effective non-profit budgeting techniques, and continuously monitoring and adjusting budgets to align with organizational goals and donor requirements.
